What are bullets?

 

 

A bullet is a character that brings attention to a point on a slide. Each PowerPoint template has a standard set of bullets defined for that template. However, you can add, remove, or change bullets if necessary. You can also change your bullets to numbering.

 

 
  How do I
add or delete
bullets?
 

To quickly add or delete a bullet without changing its formatting, simply click on the bullet button on the Formatting toolbar.

add or delete numbering?
 

To quickly add or delete a number without changing its formatting, simply click on the numbering button on the Formatting toolbar.

 

 
 

How do I
change bullets?

 

Follow these steps to change the formatting of a bullet, including changing the bullet character, its size, or its color:

1) Click on the desired line of text.

2) Pull down the Format menu and choose Bullets and Numbering.


The following dialog box will appear:

   

 

       

3) Make sure that the “Bulleted” tab is selected.

4) Click on the box displaying the desired bullet (e.g., arrows, check marks). If you don’t see the character you want, click the Character button for more selections. If you want to import a picture to use as your bullet, click the Picture button and select the graphic from the clip art library.

5) If you want to change the color or size of the bullet, make your selection in the dialog box.

5) To remove the bullet, click on the box labeled “None.”

6) When you are satisfied, click the OK button.


   
   

How do I change
numbering?

Follow these steps to change the number formatting, including changing the type of numbering, its size, or its color:

1) Click on the desired line of text.

2) Pull down the Format menu and choose Bullets and Numbering.

The following dialog box will appear:

   

   

 

 

 

 

3) Make sure that the “Numbered” tab is selected.

4) Click on the box displaying the numbering format you like (e.g., Arabic numerals, Roman numerals, letters). If you don’t want the numbering to start at 1, enter the desired starting number in the Start at field.

5) If you want to change the color or size of the bullet, make your selection in the dialog box.

5) To remove the numbering, click on the box labeled “None.”

6) Click the OK button when you are done.

Tip: Go to the slide master if you want to make a bullet or numbering change uniformly throughout your presentation.
