What is
recoloring clip art?

When you insert a Microsoft Windows Metafile from the Clip Art Gallery, you can change the individual colors in the picture (for example, to match the color scheme of your presentation). This is referred to as “recoloring.”

Unfortunately, recoloring only works with graphics in Metafile format. If the picture is a bitmap, .jpg, .gif, or .png file, you must use an image editing program, such as Photoshop, to change its colors.

How do I
recolor clip art?

Follow these steps to recolor the clip art you want to modify.

1) Click once on the graphic. The Picture Toolbar will appear as a floating toolbar on the screen:

2) On the Picture toolbar, click the Recolor Picture button.

The following dialog box should appear:

(If, instead of the above dialog, you get an error message that begins “This object is a bitmap...”, then the file is not in Microsoft Windows Metafile format and cannot be recolored this way.)

3) To change a color, pull down the associated pop-up menu to see more colors, then click on the desired shade. Any color that has been changed will display a check mark on the left-hand side of the dialog box.

4) A preview of your changes will show up to the right. If decide you don’t like a change you have made, you can revert to the original color by clicking to remove the check box.

5) When you are satisfied with your changes, click the OK button.
