  Can I include
graphics in my presentations?

You can easily add graphics to your PowerPoint presentations. You can use the extensive clip art library that comes with PowerPoint (called the Clip Gallery), or you can insert your own art or photographs. If you want the graphic to appear on every slide, you can insert it on the Slide Master, or you can put a graphic on a specific slide.

How do I
insert Clip Art?

To select and insert a clip art graphic:

1) Go to the slide you want to add a picture to.

2) Pull down the Insert menu, click on Picture, and select Clip Art:

OR

Click the Insert Clip Art button on the Drawing toolbar.

The Clip Gallery dialog box will appear:

3) Make sure the Pictures tab is selected.

4) The graphics in PowerPoint’s Clip Gallery are organized into categories in order to make it easier to find artwork on a desired topic. Click the icon for the category you want.

5) You will now see the pictures for that category. Click the picture you want, and then click Insert Clip on the shortcut menu that appears:

OR

Simply drag the desired picture from the Clip Gallery to your slide.

6) When you are finished using the Clip Gallery, click the Close box on the Clip Gallery title bar.

How do I insert
other graphics?

To select and insert a graphic from a file:

1) Go to the slide you want to add a picture to.

2) Pull down the Insert menu, click on Picture, and select From File:

3) Use the dialog box to navigate to the desired file, then double-click on it.

4) The dialog box will disappear and the graphic will be placed on your slide.

How do I move or
resize a graphic?

To move a graphic, simply drag it to the desired location on the slide.

To resize a graphic, click on it once so that handles appear around it:

Click on a corner handle and drag it to resize the picture. PowerPoint will automatically ensure that the graphic stays in proportion and doesn’t look “stretched.” To change the proportions, click on a side handle and drag it.

  How do I
rotate a graphic?

You can rotate most graphics in PowerPoint:

1) Select the picture to rotate.

      2) On the Drawing toolbar, click the Free Rotate button. (See note below.) A green dot will appear in each of the four corners of the object.

3) Drag a green dot to rotate the graphic around its center. If instead you want the graphic to rotate around the opposite green dot, hold down the ctrl key while dragging. To force the object to move in 15-degree increments, hold down the shift key while dragging.

4) When done, click outside the object to make the green handles go away.

Note: Some pictures, graphs, and organizational charts that you import can’t be rotated or flipped because they weren’t created in PowerPoint. In that case, the Free Rotate button will be greyed out. Ungrouping an imported object and then regrouping its parts will sometimes convert the graphic, which will then allow you to rotate it. You won’t be able to rotate bitmaps, however.
