The IIT has a cross-platform multimedia laboratory with access to broadcast-quality production studios. The lab maintains a balance of IBM PC compatibles and Macintosh computers that are all networked to a common Novell Intranet.

The lab also includes flatbed scanners, CD-ROM recording capabilities, emerging digital technologies and distance communication facilities. Among the software holdings are audio and video digitizing software.

The graphics software includes Photoshop, Premiere, Corel Draw, and Infini-D. Multimedia authoring tools used at the IIT include Quest, Toolbook II Instructor, Authorware, and Director Multimedia Studio. Web development tools include HTML, JavaScript, Flash 4, Dreamweaver and relational databases.
