One does not merely study instructional technology at Bloomsburg University, one becomes an apprentice in the field. Every student who graduates from the program will have created a working, effective instructional technology product for an external client. It might be a local manufacturing company, a community college, hospital, police department, bank, nursing home, corporation, or local school district, or other organization but it will be an actual product that people will use to learn.
At Bloomsburg University, we run the nationally recognized center of excellence called the Institute for Interactive Technologies. This endeavor matches corporation and organizations who have the need for instructional technology with our students who provide the solution to those needs. Students meet with managers and directors, work under deadlines, interview learners at the companies and produce a high quality finished project.
Additionally, twice a year, at our Corporate Advisory Council Conference, representatives from the field of instructional technology visit campus and evaluate the students and program. They carefully critique student work and, ultimately, hire the students into the field.
If you are looking for an educational experience that will give you hands on experience, require you to work side by side with professionals in the field and that will link you to potential employers from day one, then Bloomsburg University’s Department of Instructional Technology is the unique experience you are seeking.
