Welcome to the world of eLearning!

While the term eLearning is relatively new in training and teaching fields, the delivery of instruction at a distance has been practiced for over 100 years - we call it Distance Education. Correspondence courses were some of the first distance delivered courses and are still popular today.

With the increasing availability of the Internet and computer technologies we are now able to change what and how we deliver training and instruction to learners separated by time or space. Thus eLearning has begun to evolve.
One of the most important questions to ask when considering eLearning is "What does eLearning change?". In Horton's book he suggests that most importantly it removes barriers of time and space, changes the economics of delivering training, and also changes how we can deliver training.
Below is a link to a PowerPoint presentation titled "Introduction to eLearning". This presentation presents some general information and ideas about eLearning models, which serves as an orientation to the rest of this course. Click on the link below to view the presentation.
