Keep an Open Mind

The online learning environment is very different than traditional face-to-face classrooms. Embrace the new ways of interacting with the content, facilitator, and other students. Be patient. There will be a learning curve, but the new content formats, interactive styles, and communication strategies will become familiar and easier to use as the course progresses.

Be flexible! There may be times when technologies don't work, or technologies may change and require using different connections or backup system. It is OK to adapt or modify activities during a course.

Keep a positive perspective and a "can do" attitude.

Be Self-Motivated and
Self-Disciplined.

As a distance learner, you will have freedom and flexibility within the learning environment. With that comes responsibility to keep up with studying the material, completing assignments on time, and participating in discussions.

Keep the course a main priority. It is easy to let other responsibilities interfere with course activities and assignments. You may think you will catch up at a later time, but in fact it is very difficult.
