Are there any specific requirements for my reference letters?

There are no specific requirements; however, it is most beneficial to follow these helpful guidelines:

Letters should state who the author of the letter is, how they know you and for how long

  • Letters should be 1-2 pages in length, providing enough information to adequately describe your work ethic and work demeanor
  • There is no requirement for who can write the letter of recommendation

Helpful tips: A reference letter has most effective when it is written by someone who knows your work ethic, say an employer or coworker. If you have previously worked at a job that required working on a team, it may be helpful have a team member or manager write a letter of recommendation.
