The redesigning of a course is a multidimensional effort. This study reports on action research used to redesign the information management system course in the HRD undergraduate program at Oakland University in Michigan. The study’s three distinctive phases use diverse sources of data as bases for redesign decisions. One of the most important of these sources is the learners themselves. Professionals from the University as well as from regional business community also contributed to this effort. The results were an enhanced course, commitments from various contributors who became part of the development team, and a more appropriate set of instructional material.
